Even as DRE employees are busy preparing end of the year sales figures and making holiday plans, they’re also digging deep to help those in need.
This year, DRE is setting up an angel tree to collect for Home of the Innocents, a local charity benefiting Louisville children and families, and Operation Gratitude, an organization that sends goods to soldiers overseas and their loved ones.
Susan Bowling, sales coordinator for DRE, is also coordinating the Angel Tree efforts. She said she is looking forward to being able to help out the company’s local community.
“DRE is part of Louisville,” Bowling said. “And we’re all a part of DRE. And my philosophy is that we’ve all got to give back.”
Bowling said both the Home of the Innocents and Operation Gratitude have a special meaning for her. She toured Home of the Innocents and saw how they positively impact greater Louisville, and her family members have served in the military.
Last month, she began planning the event and emailing all DRE employees. She has been in charge of setting up festive donation boxes for each of DRE’s satellite locations.
Since then, clothing, toys, necessities, monetary donations and more have been pouring in.
The company will continue collecting items and money until Monday, Dec. 2, when DRE will match the amount of money given by employees.
By the time DRE finishes it’s fundraiser, Bowling hopes to have all of the boxes overflowing with items to ensure both children at the Home of the Innocents and military families from Operation Gratitude have a good holiday season and an even better 2014.
